the VP *IS* the "President of the Senate". Whenever they are in the Senate in a presiding role, they are called that.

I am sure they were disappointed and I expect in the case of Gore, more so due to how they arrived at the result, but I wouldn't obsess over the title. As VPs, they knew what all was involved.

Hell... Nixon went through that having been VP for 8 years and losing to Kennedy and then coming back around to win the Presidency in '68 & '72 but then having to resign in disgrace.
