They would accuse her of eisegesis. Of course, they don't consider Episcopalians to be actual Christians. But that's OK. Fundie evangelicals have a long list of denominations they don't consider real Christians.

My evangelical experiences were due to bad timing. I came along when mom was going through her evangelical phase. Dad was always go along to get along and never bought into the clap trap. He was my anchor in reality I've come to believe, and kept me from going down that rabbit hole. Eventually, once the craziness became too much, mom returned to the auld Kirk of her ancestry, what's now PCUSA. I can remember maybe once or twice mom or dad actually striking me. They didn't have to. They possessed some strange superpower manifested by "the voice" and a snap of her fingers with mom. With dad, it was "the look" or the occasional "what the hell are you doing?" We froze instantly. My wife's parents possessed the same powers. Some strange generational thing I guess, lost to time.
