1. Really? This strikes me as repeated wishful thinking...

A bit like the Meidas Touch posts every few hours, where "Trump is melting down," or "Trump is having the worst Sunday morning," or on and on. (and yes, I love Meidas Touch, but really?

Heaven knows, I would love for both the Trump news and this Putin news to be true, but...?

It is really hard to know what to believe--especially with re to Russia and Putin...

2. All I know is that TFG keeps vacillating between Zelenskyy and Putin, depending on who he's last spoken to

And now Zelenskyy has the entire EU backing him and Ukraine, plus Putin has started drone attacks on Ukraine's neighbors. He was supposed to meet with TFG again, but Poland (which has been on the receiving end of Putin's drones) has said that if he invades their airspace on his way to the summit, they'll intercept him and turn him over to The International Criminal Court where he already has an arrest warrant. So where things stand depends on the day.

Another reason why there will NOT be a trump/Putin summit is the fact that Putin is a war criminal. Putin cannot easily get to Budapest without going through airspace of countries who want to arrest him

Poland warned Russia’s president Vladimir Putin on Tuesday against travelling through its airspace for a summit in Hungary with US president Donald Trump, saying it could be forced to execute an international arrest warrant if he did, Reuters reports.

Bulgaria, however, would be willing to let Putin use its airspace if the summit is held in Hungary, foreign minister Georg Georgiev was quoted as saying.

Poland’s foreign minister Radosław Sikorski told Radio Rodzina:

I cannot guarantee that an independent Polish court won’t order the government to escort such an aircraft down to hand the suspect to the court in The Hague.

And, therefore, if this summit is to take place, hopefully with the participation of the victim of the aggression, the aircraft will use a different route.

The ICC warrant obligates the court’s member states to arrest Putin if he sets foot on their territory.

Yay for Poland! Both of my maternal grandparents came to this country from Russian-occupied Poland. They made my grandfather a citizen and sent him to France to fight for his new country in WWI. And my grandmother never got over her hate for the Russians.
