Poisoned For Profit: Why This Corporation Blew Up A Train - More Perfect Union

Two years ago, a Norfolk Southern train derailed in East Palestine.
Then the railroad giant conducted a massive—totally unnecessary—toxic burn.
Two years later residents are still sick, still suffering the impacts of toxic fumes, and still demanding accountability.

On through-freight it kind of made sense--less so on local and yard jobs. Now they seem to be cutting past what makes sense.

I lived through UP mergers, one with CNW, and one with SP. Combine, consolodate, economize, and worship all things efficient became the only tirick they knew. I see they are doing the same with the NS merger.

There is so much they could do to truly make/save money that didn't involve cutting people. They choose cutting people every time.

A couple of decades ago, my job changed cities and I didn't. I'm glad I am not involved with the potential current merger.
