MAGA Farmers Now Panicked As Trump Prepares To Deport Their Employees

Last edited Mon Dec 30, 2024, 07:12 AM - Edit history (1)

Expected consequences:

1. California farmers (among other states) lose half their workforce. If not deported, they'll leave before they can be rounded up.

2. Crops rot in the fields.

3. Your tomato now costs $5.00. One tomato. All produce costs as much as meat/poultry/fish, etc.

4. Farmers lose their properties as they lost their profitability.

5. Developers take properties (#4) and turn land formerly used to grow food into housing.

6. Even if the status quo were returned, no land and no workers.

7. Less food. Don’t think Victory Gardens.

Me: Look....it's like the drug problem.

Them: ?

Me: Labor. Cheap labor. We're addicted to it. The one group that gets ignored in all this is the people who are hiring undocumented people. They should be prosecuted.

Them: .....

Me: It's like drugs. We want it. They're supplying it. Then we want to turn around and act like they're somehow forcing us to take drugs and hire them. We're the problem. Want to end illegal immigration? Make e-verify mandatory. Put anybody hiring someone under the table a felon. Put them in jail. It won't solve the problem completely because there are different reasons people want into the US but removing the economic incentive would be huge.

Me: It won't happen, of course. Like with drugs. Too many Americans making a buck off the illegal activity.
