Is Free Speech Dead? She Was Arrested For Saying Three Words - Thom Hartmann

Free speech rights are supposed to protect Americans, but if you criticize a healthcare company, you could go to prison like this woman.

Thom Hartmann explains. - Aired on 12/13/2024.

In the context of the call, and current events, it sounds like a threat to me. She should have known better. Oopsie Daisy Dec 14 #2

This blatant misuse of the police and corruption of the courts should make us all howl. Did he say $100,000 bail? What judge imposed that?

She knew what she was saying and how it would be interpreted. She understood the message she was trying to convey, and so did everyone else. She was wrong.

increase in threats to people in general, to deem her 'conversation' a threat could be seen as going a bit overboard, and a $100,000 bail might be excessive.

However, I've never been a fan of Thom Hartmann. He apparently could not take the time to do even a modicum of research on this before blathering on. In the opening pic there is a woman, who one would assume is the person being arrested, especially after he says "Brianna Boston is a little old lady down in Florida who had a claim with UnitedHealthcare. Well guess what, Brianna is 42, and the call was to Blue Cross. Took less than a minute for me to find this. And there were the 3 words, "delay, deny, depose", but she also said "you people are next", and called them evil and deserving of karma. What if she HAD done something after this call, the police would have been in a world of trouble. Of course Thom leaves out 'the rest of the story'.

Police in Lakeland, Florida, have charged Brianna Boston, a 42-year-old mother of three, after she allegedly made threats against Blue Cross Blue Shield during a recorded phone call about a denied insurance claim. Authorities say Boston used phrases identical to those found at the scene of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson's murder, including "delay, deny, depose" and "you people are next." The FBI alerted Lakeland police to the incident, leading to Boston's arrest. A Polk County judge set her bond at $100,000, citing the serious nature of the threats and current national concerns. Boston denied owning firearms or posing a danger to anyone but criticized health care companies, calling them "evil" and deserving of karma. Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor emphasized the seriousness of such threats, warning others against similar actions.
