Related: About this forumLet's talk about the school in Iran... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about the school in Iran.
Trump recently went all in suggesting that the whole situation was caused by Iran because they aren't very accurate. I'm not joking. He said, "They have no accuracy whatsoever. It was done by Iran." About a day later, there was a release of footage and more information and analysis concerning the strike. The evidence continues to pile up, and it suggests that it was in fact not Iran, but the United States and that it was a Tomahawk.
Since it looks like a Tomahawk, it means this is probably a case of poor targeting information being put in after the building was misidentified by intelligence. It's possible that it was actually a failure with the missile itself, but that seems unlikely.
Failures like that happen, but they're very, very rare. And the odds of one of those happening and it striking a nearby building that happens to be a school are pretty small. My guess is that they misidentified the school as being part of the nearby military compound. The cause needs to be identified and stopped from happening again. Current count says more than 160 were lost.
The location of the school being near the military base is now a talking point and the source of some questions. Belle, I saw you say the evidence is piling up that the US was responsible for the strike on the school. Now, even angry staffers saying it was a Tomahawk, so fine. It's incredibly disingenuous to say that's somehow our fault when they put a school right next to a military base. Only a barbaric society that doesn't care about their children would do that to begin with. Telling half the story is why nobody believes lives. It's always deflection.
Only a barbaric society that does not care about their children would put a school right next to a military base. I'm sure you came to that conclusion based on years of studying wars in the military, your time in the military perhaps. Or maybe when you were on military bases and definitely didn't see MPs treating going a mile an hour over the speed limit near a school like it was something they were authorized to use lethal force over.
Most US military bases have schools on them. Not just nearby, actually on them. As an aside, they tend to be really good schools. This year, three national blue ribbon schools were DODEA schools. That's the Department of Defense Education Activity. They run more than 160 schools, teaching almost a million children. The idea that this is something that only the evil Iranians would do is just absolute garbage. Few people are pointing to how close it was to the base as justification because schools near military bases isn't uncommon and because it's not an excuse.
Look, the entire reason we spend a couple million bucks a piece on Tomahawks is because they're accurate. The use of precision guided munitions should stop these kinds of incidents. Trying to deflect away from something that most likely occurred because of faulty intelligence and loose targeting standards isn't going to change anything. This appears to be an abject failure for the US.
While Trump sets his sights on trying to realign the nation to be more US friendly, how do you think this will factor in? Do you think this will make Iranians more likely to support a US-friendly government? Especially if the US response is to blame the school for being too close when everybody but you knows we put schools on bases. When you think about Hegseth's recent comments on what he called stupid rules of engagement or politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement, remember that those rules are there to try to prevent things like this.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
