In closing the Strait of Hormuz, Iran used its leverage and 'turned the tables on us' - Velshi - MS NOW

As Trump threatens to use the U.S. Navy to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, the centrality of the strait to the war in Iran reveals its importance as a "chokepoint" for the global economy.

Edward Fishman, author of "Chokepoints: American Power in the Age of Economic Warfare," tells Ali Velshi that "Iran learned from the experience of being under financial sanctions for decades" how to use its leverage to "impose devastating economic pain on the United States." In upending the global oil market, Iran has "totally turned the tables on us," Fishman says. - Aired on 04/12/2026.

And Iran will leverage it to get rid of past sanctions as well as deriving transit fees in the future.
Plus more.

I can't think of any time in America's 250 year history where they were outsmarted by a supposed weaker adversary.

War of Independence against Britain, WW2, some more recent wars where a stalemate of sorts were encountered, but nothing like this.

Time for some American smart and lateral thinking, and Trump eating humble pie.
But Trump and his minions aren't capable of any of that.

So, whereto from here?
Trump starts talking nukes or Trump gets deposed?

Not to mention walking out of peace talks after only one day - because they got caught between a rock and a hard place after the felon-in-chief changed what had already been agreed upon, leaving Vance (who had been Iran's choice) to deal with it.
