Iowa honors Lisa Bluder at halftime of game against Maryland, falls to Terps 74-66
Hearts were full of emotion inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena, with fans, alumni, and current players honoring Lisa Bluder's 24 years of service as the head coach of the Iowa women's basketball team.
Dozens of former players came to support Bluder in Iowa City, with current players repping tee shirts with Lisa's face on it with the phrase "Bluder's Bunch" during pregame warmups.
Despite the momentous occasion, Iowa failed to secure the upset against eighth-ranked Maryland, suffering 13 turnovers in the first half causing a 21-point deficit at halftime. Even with a second half surge that saw the Hawkeyes pull to within six points with five minutes to go, the Terps shut the door to take down the Hawkeyes 74-66.
