Very positive and I just heard the box office returns so far on NPR. It's a mega hit.
I can't do spoilers since I haven't seen it but my guess is Tom Cruise wins.

(4,642 posts)(Cinemark discount Tuesday) and we were probably 2 out of a dozen folks for this matinee showing. I enjoyed the first Top Gun and this one, Top Gun-Maverick sequel, was more exciting but a lot less romantic. The nostalgia was well done as well, and I didn't feel it was smaltzy either. Great action re-do; thumbs up! NO SPOILERS
