This is just wrong on so many levels!
Man who shot dead his friend's pregnant wife while playing with a revolver 'gunslinger-style' will not face charges. Katherine Lynn Hoover was 'accidentally' shot in the head by her friend William DeHayes who was showing off a revolver 'gunslinger-style' at the time DeHayes shot Mrs Hoover once in the head. Prosecutors have decided DeHayes would not face any criminal charges. Mrs Hoover's baby son Rehlin Lee was delivered but died 30 minutes later.
The decision has been strongly criticised by Mrs Hoover's mother Donna Bryan, who has written to the Governor Rick Scott, State Attorney General Pam Bondi as well as the state attorney in Hernando County, Brad King. Mr King wrote back to Mrs Bryan and claimed that he COULD NOT prosecute DeHayes because, even though he was grossly negligent, his behaviour did not constitute a crime.

Published: February 15, 2015 NEW PORT RICHEY William DeHayes was showing off his gun collection to friends Carson Hoover and his pregnant wife, Katherine, on July 26 when tragedy struck at his Brooksville home. For the family, devastation merged with frustrated anger in December, when the State Attorneys Office in Hernando County decided not to pursue charges against DeHayes, as the shooting was deemed accidental. http://tbo.com/pasco-county/ruling-in-hernando-shooting-angers-victims-family-20150215/

(6,649 posts)on a daly basis all across this nation, and the "responsible gun owners" are seldom prosecuted. Phrases like "reckless endangerment," negligence resulting in death," "manslaughter," and other similar terms come to mind, but because a gun was involved the guilty are not charged most of the time because "they have suffered enough." Really?
