Thanks, Idiots.
Quite a rant from the fine folks at Pistol-Training.com:
To all of the in-your-face tough guy Open Carry zealots who held Starbucks rallies such as the one pictured here, thanks.
Thanks for forcing a major, high profile international corporation into choosing between its image and yours.
Thanks for making such complete idiots of yourselves with your Look Ma, Ive got a gun and a coffee at the same time! antics that what had been a nice political win for our side is now a huge media circus about how Starbucks finally said stop bringing guns into our stores.
You can croon about how youre educating the public all you want, but its bullcrap. And heres a perfect example. Did you convert the average American? No. But you scared enough soccer moms, kids, and coffee jockeys that Starbucks was forced to take action.
It was you that turned Starbucks into a political battleground. It was you that couldnt just take the victory of Starbucks saying it would abide by local laws rather than ban guns. It was you who had to push the limits and do things utterly unacceptable among almost any normal community in the United States just so you could brag to your equally moronic Facetwit buddies. You did this. You gave the entire Second Amendment movement a huge black eye. You just educated America, all right, you educated them into believing that gun owners are a bunch of retarded monkeys wholl throw feces the first chance they get if its legalized.

(18,967 posts)whoever authored this article. It says that there are a lot of SANE gun-owners out there and I have no objection to them (I own a gun myself...full disclosure) but I do object to those paranoids who "pack" and walk the streets looking for a "perp" to use their gun on.
Thankfully there is some sanity in the gun world.

(11,181 posts)I think most gun owners are sane. Only a small percentage routinely carry loaded weapons in public. Unfortunately that number is growing, thanks to the NRA and other fear mongers. They are the problem.

(52,146 posts)Same goes for the other places they show up at. Why do they hate those establishments?
If an open carry shows up at one of them, I'll clear out and not come back for some time, lest I get into a verbal confrontation which would lead who knows where.

(8,747 posts)Do a great deal of damage to the RKBA, and the rest of Gun Owners who have more brains and common sense than to Open Carry. They deliberately alienate people just to make a point.
Open Carry Buffoons are the worst advertisement for Gun Ownership possible.
Yes, I said that and I meant every word of it.

Half-Century Man
(5,279 posts)I doubt it is vintage. If you absolutely have to pack in public, a single shot weapon is what I prefer you carry.
I did notice the dipshit with the mag fed military knock off, who was resting his weapon muzzle down on a brick surface. I thought that if you were transporting a weapon, it had to be unloaded.

(244 posts)....and fuck anyone who thinks they have a God given right to own one. The Second Amendment is not about your "right to keep and bear arms", it's about the establishment of a militia, which was necessary at the time because there was no large standing army. And since we no longer have a militia, the second amendment is due for repeal.
So all you "progressive" gun owners take a hike, cause there ain't no such thing. Cause if you call yourself a "progressive" on the one hand and agree with the guns nutz on the other, you better get some serious treatment for split-personality disorder.
Fuck guns, and fuck the pain they cause and the heart ache and the tears. Fuck'em all.

(11,181 posts)Of course, nobody has a God given right to own one or carry one. It takes money to buy one and either balls or stupidity to carry one.
The 2nd Amendment is definitely due for a rewrite, at the very least.
There is no such thing as a "progressive gun owner", though a gun owner may be progressive in other ways. Owning a gun is neither regressive nor progressive, while carrying a gun is definitely regressive.
Fuck those who carry guns around other people, but don't blame all gun owners for the pain, heartache and tears.

(1,320 posts)I agree with the Starbucks, they tried to stay out of it, and follow local laws. The attention whore idiots pushed and pushed, and finally Starbucks Inc decided that the money was in no longer allowing this stupidity. People took a no comment to be some tacit agreement, and screwed themselvs. This morning I left my guns in the truck ( as I always do anyway) and had a tasty Pumpkin spice latte and tipped with a 2 dollar bill that said "right choice on it". I completely support Starbucks on their decision.
