Tooth extraction question

I'm supposed to have a tooth extracted that has either a cyst or abscess with possible sinus involvement. I'm having it as outpatient in a hospital. Traditional Medicare may not cover the cost. An oral surgeon will be doing it. Its not cosmetic. I'm on antibiotic in case its an abscess.

From what I'm reading. Anyone experience something like this, and was it covered?

If scheduled, didn't they explain the net costs you are liable for? If tooth extractions are what you are contemplating. I'd figure on $500/tooth without insurance. But I could be totally wrong. Good luck. Hope you get the help you need.

Should cover some of oral surgeon charges. Coverage depends on reason for removal. If it's just because of abcess, not much is covered.
Good luck an abcess should not be ignored.

But it al depends on how they write it up, there are code numbers they use and they are what decides what gets covered..... Hospital should be able to tell you what part you will be liable for.
