(8,646 posts)how when people have to tell you they are honest, and keep reiterating it, you know they are anything but honest. I knew someone once who would preface or end each lie by saying, "I'm being totally honest with you. I'm telling you the god's honest truth. I would never lie to you. I'm a very honest person, you know." It was SO obvious! They KNOW they are anything but honest/nice so they figure they have to convince you that they are. Like if they say it, then it must be true.

(42,496 posts)He's spending the weekend, and we've been discussing sexism-- haven't gotten too far into misogyny, I think I'll save this one for now.

(110,159 posts)for an hour or an half hour, and then go on to see women as a person.
i do not believe this man can do this. i believe that if he can use this woman as a thing, then it is inherently how he sees women.

(115,177 posts)It is sad to think that these men find it so easy to be such shameless, selfish liars. You know damn well that many if not most are in relationships. And you know damn well they don't tell their partners they're doing this.
That alone proves they have no respect for the women in their lives.
The interviews with men who buy sex are so revealing. And disturbing.

So I can't make comments on much of the content of the OP, but will speak generally here.
Having worked in the same places where there were prostitutes, working with the men who used them, made me both angry and depressed.
Knowing women who were in it and more than one who was kidnapped by gangs and having been threatened by one myself, and hyper aware...
And in one case, a girl I met was dragged cross country, raped for profit, not hers, of course, but finally dropped off when she was looking older, the abusive nature of some who used this trade is not surprising.
I am just one person, not a paid professional, and I came across too many women affected by this, and also men's violent fantasies, so I don't think by any stretch of the imagination that such views are unusual.
They are the underbelly of the continuum of male and female (and other pairings) that is universal, except we in the USA do examine this more than nations who consider this state of affairs normal and not a controversy or cause of outrage.
I've known more than one woman whose spouse frequented prostitutes, and not because they were not willing to have sex with them, and it really hurt the women and children to see that side of the man, as it didn't stop at the door of the home.
It's like an angry, snarling beast just beneath the surface, and is why for so many women, life in general and relationships, are minefields. You never know when it is going to explode and blow up all of one's preconceived notions of intimacy, family and society.
I've been fortunate that my experience has been more that of an observer. IDK why some women have revealed to me as much as they have, sometimes out of the blue and tell me their stories, not at meetings or social gatherings.
They just started talking and felt I was the one to whom it was safe to impart their life stories in public, no less. I don't go out of my way to advertise my views in public. But I have said before, that I feel as if part of my life on this planet is simply as a recorder of horrors and betrayals.
I empathize with people who are being treated as things, as it strips away so much of them and reduces their humanity.
IDK if this thread will get trolled or not, but can hear the complaints in my head from memory of those who feel it is their right to use people as things as their freedom. It's just there, words and sights in the back of my mind, so that I am constantly second guessing what another is going to find fault with, just as many of us have experienced.
That's my opinion, and there has been a lot in my life that made me furious and I don't deny that. And I see that someone took my words out of context and got a post hidden, obviously I was not posting with those voices to warn me to take all their things into account and avoid their wrath.
Keep working at it, HOF.

(115,177 posts)There are forums full of these subhuman filth trading stories of the last body they rented. I doubt much of it would be illuminating to you, as you're not one of the many who has absorbed the pro-sex-industry propaganda.
It is very ugly stuff, but some people really do need to see it
