OP
Yes, by Christ. And in Orthodox 'soteriology', by Mary, because she said, "Yes, be it done unto me."

In this talk, Fr. Trenham says just this. Do we 'worship' Mary on the same plane and as the same divinity as Jesus Christ? NO. We venerate her and honor her because of her 'saving' participation in bringing forth Christ, the Saviour of mankind.

(4,477 posts)7. Mary may have "participated" in salvation by being the Theotokos
However, we are saved by Christ and no one else.

Thank you for posting this and my introduction to Fr. Josiah. As a Lutheran I appreciate his clear explanations.

(20,646 posts)4. Much of the Eastern Orthodox Faith is foreign to non-Orthodox.
Understandable, yet defensible, if one at minimum, is open to at least hear/read regarding the foundation/establishment of the Faith in 33 A.D.
Thank you for 'seeking'.

(1,234 posts)5. I know more about Orthodoxy, than most.
In college many years ago my friend introduced me to the Russian Orthodox. Now he is the Bishop of Syracuse.
I've been to liturgy many times, although most times for Pascha.

Especially the midnight service of Pascha. I have partiality. 😊
