Have you ever had a margin call? I did, back in that stock market crash that happened in 1988, I think. I was so stunned at the figure I had to make up that I walked out my broker's door and fell down the marble steps. The amount I had to make up would have bought a new Volvo. I don't know how I ever climbed out of that mess but I never bought on margin again. So take my simple little situation and magnify it about a billion times and you'll have musk's situation.
