So Whose Voice was It?
'Mysterious voice' led Utah Officers to child who survived for 14 hours after car crash killed mom
When I first encountered this incredible story, I said to myself that this mother, though she had crossed over in the accident, had to be trying to obtain help for her baby. I didn't know how she was doing it--through dreams to her loved ones or what--but I knew she had to be trying something. The first story I read told what a devoted mother she was.
Now, in today's NY Daily News, I learned what she did:
Jennifer Groesbeck, 25, was driving to her home in Springville, but when crossing a bridge in Spanish Fork, the single mom hit a cement barrier and drove off the roadway, police said.
The vehicle crashed into the river around 10:30 p.m., according to a witness who told police he heard the accident. The car was not visible from the roadway, and was not discovered until 14 hours later, when a fisherman spotted it at 12:24 p.m. Saturday and called police.
Thats when Beddoes and his partners arrived. The witness told them that he could see an arm through the window, and the four men plunged into the freezing rapids to see if they could find any survivors.
Then, suddenly, they started hearing the distinct sound of a womans voice, calling to them to help.
Read the entire amazing story at the link. I love it that numerous officers heard it, not just one of them.

(38,380 posts)very funny. As usual, from the hardened materialists, we get these explanations that stretch the bounds.
One is that, being Utah, the officers and firemen are all Mormons, so they cooked up this story to boost their religion.
Here's another one: a wild parakeet or other talking bird was in the area and heard the mother saying "Help us" before she died. Then the bird imitated the mother when the officers came to the accident site.

(31,556 posts)And the Mormons I know do not go in for overly "supernatural" stories or activities. They believe the supernatural foundations of their faith, and they believe that their prophets receive revelations. But most of them seem to have well-grounded twenty-first century outlooks. They probably have their share of skepticism.
I don't think we know everything. We can believe in science, and still understand that the spiritual world and the afterlife is a mystery we can never fully understand. Yes, the skeptical explanations are more incredible than the probable truth of this story.
