8. He was 49-35 in Dallas, a 0.583 winning percentage.

That's tied (with the Vikings) for sixth best record in the NFL over the last five years , behind the Chiefs (0.786), Bills (0.735), Packers (0.643), Eagles (0.625), Buccaneers (0.607).

That hardly seems like the record of a terrible and dumb coach. I suspect there is going to be a lot of interest in him from other teams.

...Colorado was 9-4 this year, including a bowl win.
They went from 1-11 to a bowl win in 2 years under Sanders.
Same kind of impact (perhaps more) at Jackson State.
I don't care about Sanders; I really don't care about the Cowboys.
But, Sanders has shown himself to be a difference maker.

10. They actually lost their bowl game to BYU for their 4th loss

It was odd they were playing another Big 12 team in their bowl game but I think Colorado got their bowl bid as a former Pac 12 team but either way they lost the bowl game.

Sanders is an elite recruiter which is why he was able to turn around those programs but that skill doesn't really translate to the pros unless you count free agency but I think Jones is the GM.

I'm not convinced he would be a good pro coach either.
He can't motivate players to do what he did because only so many people will ever have his speed & instincts. No amount of motivation makes a 4.4 cornerback run 4.25!
Since I loathe the Cowboys, I don't really care what happens here, but it's interesting as a topic.

9. Jerry had one of the very best coaches in all of football both college and pro in Jimmy Johnson ...

…. and ran him off only to never win a Super Bowl again except with Jimmy’s old team. Jerry is
a dick.

I have to crow a little bit. Jimmy and Jerry were teammates on the 1964 National Championship UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS RAZORBACK FOOTBALL TEAM. WOO PIG SOOIEE!

You are right My Friend. Jimmy was a helluva coach. I hope I have his stamina at his age.

14. Look @ the Steelers and the family that owns them, the Rooneys.

Same 3 head coaches over the past 56 years and they have always been good.
The Rooney Family and the Steeler Organization doesn’t fire head coaches they
get new players. Look for them to get some new players this year. I see Justin
Fields moving up to be the #1 QB too.

Jones was just jealous that Jimmy Johnson was getting credit for the Cowboy’s
success and really thought the credit should go to him.

15. Mike McCarthy wouldn't be my first choice...

...but he wouldn't be the worst, either. There are 32 teams in the NFL, and fewer than 16 proven head coaches (winning record in three or more seasons). The Bears last four head coaches (not counting Thomas Brown, interim coach for the last five games) have been Marc Tressman, John Fox, Matt Nagy and Matt Eberflus. Nagy had one good year, in 2018. Their combined record is 75-116 (and that includes a 12-4 season). They've been bad, and a coach who could install a positive culture would be a refreshing change.

McCarthy may not be able to win the big game, but he's a proven head coach, and an offensively minded one at that. Not many of those in this coaching market.
