were supposed to take off this afternoon to go play game in Denver tomorrow, but there is an ice storm in KC right now and they are stuck here so far because the airport is closed. Why they didnt leave this morning before this storm started this afternoon is beyond my understanding.

(16,585 posts)The NFL hates cancelling games outright in general, but that impulse ought be multiplied by this game having playoff implications. Even if KC said "hey, we happily forfeit since we got the #1 seed anyway" the NFL would not go for it (if the NFL were consistent, that is).
Maybe if CIN and MIA both lose and DEN clinches the last wildcard spot regardless of KC-DEN game outcome, maybe then the NFL would claim the travel was a safety issue and cancel the game. Even that is doubtful based on their usual way of doing things.

(310 posts)Just go to any weather website, check the
forecast and plan accordingly. Doesn't
seem that hard.

(38,073 posts)With the weather closing in, the Chiefs wanted to depart earlier, but their charter airplane was delayed arriving. Problems with the airport de-iceing machine was resolved and they departed four hours late.
I suspect the onboard food and liquor supplies were exhausted by the time they arrived in Denver.
they have arrived in Denver and saw on Instagram some of them getting off the plane onto a snow covered runway.
