Related: About this forumThe Yankees need to fire Aaron Boone!!
Last night he put in their "premium" closer Devin Williams who immediately blew the save which lead to a loss an inning later. And then tonite Boone called in their "premium" closer in the 8th inning in a tied 0/0 game. Loaded the bases and allowed two runs resulting in another loss.
Boneheaded move Boone.

But, yeah, it's rather puzzling when Williams has been struggling this season and NY trades for a couple of top-notch closers and yet Boone sticks with the guy who all too frequently wasn't getting the job done.

Eh, Boone has his reasons. Past match-up history? Right/lefty? Other relievers need rest? Horoscope?

(24,919 posts)in a quiet clubhouse moment Williams took Boone aside and said, "Look, let me keep my job and I'll give you half of my salary."
It's gotta be something like that going on!

(37,058 posts)Boone's reasoning for putting him in doesn't pass the test.
Not sure how or why I'm getting emails from Heavy on Yankees...looks like the tree is Heavy Sports/Heavy on MLB/Heavy on Yankees. They're not too keen (to say the least) on Williams.
