(21,120 posts)The "Winter Classic" was once a year and sometimes it was dicey. Half the games outside would mean a lot of cancellations.

(28,801 posts)is ruining it. For some reason, too, there hasn't really been a big name since Sidney Crosby (I know there is talent, like Conor Bedard and Ovechkin, but who outside of hockey fans have heard of them?)
There also aren't any fan-grabbing rivalries at the moment.
Too bad, it's a great product, poorly marketed. Stupid names like the Kraken do not help. That was a bone thrown to the tech crowd tastes, but they aren't really sports fans.
(It's also expensive. When the Kraken franchise started I looked into getting tickets to a Red Wings game and it would have been cheaper to fly to Detroit and watch them play there, including the flight and hotel).

(28,801 posts)Certainly not hockey-related things like dancing to "Cotton-Eyed Joe" and singing "The Good Old Hockey Game" and throwing hats on the ice for a hat trick and drinking beer with Canadians.
Happy New Year!

Here's one idea I bequeath to the University of Maine Orono. Create a paper product, using recycled paper, with seeds and embedded fertilizer. We lost the area of Maine each year to desertification.
