selling the soul
at times i awaken from being awake and wonder
what is the true cost of a soul can it be afforded
hold it empty and unseeing splitting life asunder
measures gained or lost of the moments hoarded
to ponder depths of heart or heights of thoughts
scales fail to give weight to the stretch of rulers
a chalk line marks a start minutes mar the blots
tell a circumference of fate the ashes of jewelers
and would i sell the soul to gain the price of love
would an offer be accepted would it be disdained
could this love fill the hole or overflow or shove
should this price be rejected the amount shamed
in a market filled in souls can value be appraised
and left alone to decompose no awareness raised
