(571 posts)Ran for re-election as a part-time President after his heart attack and spent much of his time on the golf course as I remember him as a young child. Everyone liked Ike but 1958 brought us a major recession. As kids, my siblings and myself always seemed hungry and cold then, as our parents struggled to get by, to feed us and try to heat our home. Forget about buying any new clothes for us. This was at the height when America was great, you know, what Trump wants to return us to. It was only when Kennedy got into office and things began to get better for my family.. I knew then that I was a Democrat, even as a kid. Eisenhower had no vision for the future, He was only a caretaker .
