I took Martini to the vet today for her three-month follow-up

Last edited Wed Jun 10, 2026, 10:41 PM - Edit history (1)

Her blood pressure is normal but she's lost a couple more ounces. She had a nail that was curling underneath her paw so they trimmed all her claws. The vet suspects she may have a bit of arthritis. They had to shave some mats off her; I don't think she grooms herself very much these days so I'll have to be more vigilant with the brushing (she's the first cat I've ever had that's not short-haired, she's medium-haired). I'll find out the result of her blood test on Friday. When the vet tech brought her back from the tests and nail trimming, she said that Martini was such a good girl. Tell me something I don't know. Martini is so laid back and go-with-the-flow, she rarely gets upset about anything.

The vet said to give Martini anything she wants to eat because she needs to gain weight. I gave her and Holly some veterinary wet food earlier and she ate a little bit and Holly ate a lot.

After I took her home, I went to Petsmart and got a new brush and a new litter pan made for kittens and seniors. Martini and Holly have a big litter box and a small litter box but they seem to use the little one more than the big one. I also got Scoop Away from Costco over the weekend and will try that out in the new litter box tonight. If they like it and use it, I'll buy it from now on because Fresh Step costs more and they go through a lot of litter because their veterinary food makes them drink a lot of water.

I take her to the Vet about every two months for a shot of “Solensia," a popular monthly injection used to control osteoarthritis pain in cats. Works like a charm.
