Stocking up on ingredients

I've stocked up on ingredients for my Chinese, Japanese, Asian recipes at H-Mart, etc.

No doubt the stuff on the shelves will have price increases as inventory is purchased.

I'd rather get Oyster Sauce, Hoisin Sauce, rice noodles, etc. now.

1. Load the Wagon is my list

This will be like Covid March 2020 in a few months, except with astronomical prices.

If people stop eating chips and soda will prices go up more? They have to make up the loss and pay for the overhead on the two chips and soda aisles. Must be 8% of the stores. Has Bobby considered the costs to retailers?

2. I'm stocking up on the following items...

coffee, canned evaporated milk, canned whole tomatoes, flour, cornmeal, dry pasta, canned beans of a multiple variety, meats to go into freezer...oatmeal, butter,... I already have a nice stock as it is of canned and dry goods...

Can't forget cat food.

I'm sure my list will expand....

3. Thank you for including cat food. Some very good pet food brands are based in Canada.

Canada both imports and exports huge volumes of pet food to/from the US. Businesses both ways will take a big hit.

5. My cats love, love love

Bobby Flay's " Nacho" cat food....thecanned : pate :'chicken, salmon herring..... and dry salmom with bone broth and pumpkin....

6. Be careful about giving them too much fish. Cats love fish, but it is rich in guanine, which they excrete as uric acid--

and I've been warned by a vet that too much uric acid causes kidney problems, to which cats are particularly prone. Both of my Mom's cats died of kidney failure. And there's other concerns besides ...

Cheaper brands of cat food often include some form or another of fish-byproducts or fish meal in the ingredients. Sometimes you have to read well down the list on the label to spot it. The silver scales of many species of fish (including sardines) are rich in guanine, and indeed crystalline guanine looks very reminiscent of fish scales.

4. I am concerned about dog food

We cook for our 3 dogs, boiled chicken, brown rice, veges. There's only so many bags of chicken quarters you can fit in a freezer.

Stocking up on a lot of the same things you are. I just read that you can freeze butter.

7. I'm starting to collect pepperoni sticks

Apparently, pepperoni and other hard sausages have a really long shelf life before they're unwrapped and sliced. Sources claim that unwrapped, unsliced, and kept in the fridge, they pretty much don't go bad.

Since meat's going to be a flavoring component and not the main part of the meal from now on, they could be very useful. There seem to be some good pasta recipes using it.

And I've already been to United Noodle in November for my stuff, but I'm feeling insecure in my hoisin and ground bean stock. It could be worth another trip. I used to get my pork bellies through them, but it turns out my co-op will cut a piece to order.

9. Stocking up on

Spices, vanilla, sweet soy sauce , cooking oil, buttermilk powder, egg substitute, tea , Costco shrimp,
Parchment paper and chocolate chips and baker’s chocolate.
