there's no way we can live on my pay but there have been no tears, no panic attacks, no stress, just a plan to get through it. the unmedicated me would be an absolute mess right now. the medicated me is just looking at this as a challenge that we can overcome.
he had a phone interview with ups today and although it is just an on-call position, it's something.
it's only been a few days, but it hasn't strained our relationship. he's been in cave mode for a few days, but i understand that, i've been in his position before.
things will be tight for a bit, but it isn't anything we haven't dealt with before.

(152,745 posts)Good for you, staying calm and collected. I'm pleased that you have the means to really stay in the moment.
And yes, cave mode is totally understandable!
All the best of luck for his job hunt and for you both...

Lol I've never heard it called cave mode but I know immediately what you mean by that. Since I quit school I've been in cave more for 3 months or so now need to stop but the depression won't lift.
The fact that he has gone and did the interview is a positive sign, means he's not totally locked up like me and others I've seen. Once he gets something, almost anything really, even if it's a significant downgrade the two of you will feel better I'm sure.

(24,146 posts)it's a great descriptor for it.
but it also can be very hard to break if you've gotten deep enough in. it's difficult to remember that the sun is still shining outside the cave, but it is.
he wasn't exactly in love with the job, but it sucks to get fired. i'm thankful he hasn't shut completely down and actually seems to be in relatively good spirits.
take care of yourself, friend.
