Feeling to do so, and such satisfaction.
We are thinking of moving to Tucson in a couple of years when my DH retires, so I am already thinking ahead.
Plus, in the meantime, it gives me more free space to work with and a more pleasant studio, to have everything so neatly arranged and organized.
Anybody else find peace of mind in making their living spaces clean and organized and less cluttered?

(14,960 posts)My husband is a pack rat, so it is a constant tension. I have been going through closets and cabinets since the hurricane last year, and it feels great! He's also more willing to get rid of things when he knows there's a need.
We don't have an art studio, but I get it. I find that clutter stresses me.

(12,035 posts)Ours all started with my husband purging his closet of all the clothes he's literally shrunk out of since losing 48 lbs. That inspired me to do the same. and we've delivered 4 huge trash bags and at least 6 boxes to Gift & Thrift, the local Mennonite charity, in the last 3 weeks. I can now actually MOVE in the guest room. Yesterday he found out that Staples will take all kinds of used computer equipment---basically everything except monitors, so there goes that (he's a geek for a living). I also donated a couple of boxes of cookbooks that I no longer use (some of which were the property of his former partner that she left behind). And we are nowhere near done....

(11,263 posts)To how much I could get done thirty or forty years ago, and how little I can get done now before having to rest, and its frustrating. But I know that its just how it is when a person has a lot of MS damage, the body just doesnt work right anymore. I know I should just be grateful to be able to do even a little.

(13,399 posts)A few years ago I moved from NY to PA and gave up my large detached studio to move into a smaller more manageable home close to the kids.
It was so energizing. In my smaller space I have been working smaller and using different mediums to exciting effect.
I released something I thought would stifle my creativity and it actually opened a new door.
Great good luck with a new door.

(11,263 posts)In proper storage spaces, and freeing up and cleaning tables to work on, and making big piles of stuff to donate, makes me look forward more to being creative.
Its easy to get messy during the creative process, and I especially have a problem because I switch back and forth between different mediums, and am not always disciplined about putting things away neatly after I am done with them.

(13,399 posts)Especially when you are working with different mediums. Im super organized now.
Good luck and keep up the good work.

(71,329 posts)much anymore. all the local craft fairs are out of their frigging minds with booth fees. compared to some artists I know I dont have that much stuff and Im unloading it cheap at local swap meets. Don't need the money just want to be rid of it all. now this may seem odd to say about my treasures, but I have always considered the act of creation to be the art and the result to be a souvenir.

(11,263 posts)Result doesnt matter so much, although it makes me feel good when I can make someone happy when I give them my art work!
Yeah, I seriously need to pare down my art supplies. Im doing some of it here, and will do more, I think, when I move to Tucson in two years, as I feel the retirement community there might have people who would enjoy art supplies.
