First time here, hope it's right. If you miss eating french fries...

and are tired of celery do this:

cut broccoli into the usual florets. Shake it in a plastic bag with a T or less of olive oil depending on how much of it you are using.
Sprinkle with a little salt after you put it in your small toaster oven at 400 for about 35 - 40 min til it's good and crisped.

I just ate that, and I'm amazed at how good it is. And I don't see how it could have any more calories than celery.
And it's winter, and it's warm. Like real food ought to be in my mind.

When I just inhaled a third of a head of cauliflower!
(I'm not even sure this would be good for broccoli)

But really

It is actually good with broccoli too. And Brussel sprouts. But cauliflower is best.

I thought out loud about getting a food dehydrator, but Mr. Dixie made a face at the idea.

I got the recipe here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-Kale-Chips/

If you scroll down and read the reviews there are a lot of helpful tips. This one from the person who posted the recipe says it all:

I am the poster of this recipe. Thank you all for such nice reviews. You can CUT CALORIES CONSIDERABLY by spraying them with a mister or PAM(TM). I use a "Misto&quot TM) filled with olive oil. Also, you can decrease the salt and add additional seasonings. Enjoy!! UPDATE: The timing of the baking, as others noted, is critical. Baking too little results in limp kale pieces and baking too long causes a "burned" taste. Be sure to use the "curly" kale variety as it tend to be less bitter.DO NOT EXPECT them to taste like potato chips... that was just an expression I used in the description. Kale is a nutritional powerhouse and rich in calcium and other vitamins. GREAT way to feed yourself and your kids!! ENJOY!!
