I am sooooooooo much happier.
FYI, I don't do this lightly; in my professional life (forgetting stupid jobs as a teenager) I don't think I've ever quit anything, except the company I started (and ran until the market itself tanked). It's always been a layoff, or a company buy-out, or something. But this was just untenable - management was bad, pay sucked, hours constrained (hard to get to a doctor) - but I knew about the pay and the hours. The poor management was just icing on the cake.
I actually feel more energized now. I want to create a product and situation that will hold me for years.
(I'll leave the insurance question for later next week).
This isn't really pertinent to cancer, just how my life is (d)evolving.

(27,393 posts)I took all of my accrued vacation time, and then in June I made it official. I've never been happier. No pertinent health issues, here, but only because I left my job before that happened.
I had good pay great hours, and some of the worst management ever, in the history of the world. And a hostile, aggressive co-worker about whom they would do NOTHING. The stress of dealing with that, plus also the extra stress of caring for and dealign with the issues of immediate family members who did not survive significant health issues (3, just this year), was killing me.
I went to a little get together with former co-workers, this week, and each and every one of them commented on how great I look - so much more relaxed and healthy. That convinced me I did the right thing.
I've been saving for years, and have enough money invested and socked away that, if I stay healthy, live responsibly and simply, I should be fine.
You might find eliminating will boost your health.

(93,385 posts)We're all (in the group) either living with cancer right now or living with the fear of its return.
How we live our life matters even in the best of health. Adding cancer to the mix brings the "how" into sharp relief.
