Widow's Bay on Apple TV+

I watched the first episode last night.

I was a little disappointed.

It's got two of my favorite actors: Michael Rhys and Stephan Root.

The idea is that Michael Rhys is the mayor of a small New England town on an island off the coast. The island is haunted/cursed/possessed by evil spirits or something.

It was described as a horror-comedy.
I was kind of picturing X-Files with laughs.

My husband said it was like X-Files crossed with Fawlty Towers. (His opinion, not mine).

There were not many laughs, I feel it is lacking in comedy, if that's supposed to be a significant element.

It's not terrible, and sometimes first episodes aren't a fair depiction of a whole show.
I'm going to give it at least two more episodes before I make up my mind about watching the whole thing.

Anybody else watching it?

I'll give you an update: It's definitely more horror than humor, but there are humorous moments. Coventina May 27 #4

Watched 2 episodes last night. The 2nd episode is much better. First episodes are almost always slow.

Just finished episode 8 and it’s becoming a chore to get through. It started out ok, but the frequent divergences from the main plot thread and inability to determine what it wants to be creates a frustrating watch. The actors are game and the setting is fine but I don’t find it funny or scary.
