Ocelot II
(122,701 posts)The old Exorcist movie was a lot scarier. This one was actually supposed to be based on a true story; the priest in the movie really was the Pope's exorcist. But I find it very hard to believe that the things that happened in the movie, with all the demons and hellish visions, ever happened at all unless somebody had got ahold of some bad acid.

(6,655 posts)The original one was (hella) scary partially because of what we imagined but didn't see, and by the time the nasty stuff started, you could relate to the characters. All these demons and stuff slathered on horror movies nowadays just leave me cold.

(24,564 posts)I have a hard time believing the devil threw people across the room like that. It was fun in a way. Definitely not scary. I'm surprised Russell Crowe agreed to be in it. He's made some decent movies lately.

(1,604 posts)1/4 of the movie was so over the top to the point of being silly, but overall, entertaining.
The sense of humor of "Gabe" was a nice touch.
