After Russia’s early 2026 gains fell by more than 90%, Moscow’s battlefield slowdown is colliding with the system Putin built to keep elites loyal, paid, and afraid. The army needs more men than it can politically replace, Donbas is draining momentum, and the money that once held the Kremlin’s factions together is becoming harder to find.
Inside that pressure, the Kremlin’s civil war is no longer hidden behind loyalty rituals and staged economic forums.
