The United States has ended its sanctions waiver for Serbia’s Russian-owned oil company NIS, cutting off crude supplies through Croatia’s JANAF pipeline.

Serbia’s only refinery at Pančevo — majority-owned by Russia’s Gazprom Neft — supplies around 80% of the nation’s fuel. With shipments through Croatia now halted, Serbia faces a real risk of fuel shortages, and Moscow loses another crucial foothold inside Europe.
