They probably lick the hand of somebody torturing them.

I don't like PETA, but I would like to see all animal testing banned. I remember years ago, when my ex was working for Univ of Louisville. He told me about a larger dog whose legs had been broken multiple times so med students could learn to put them back together. I would hope most teaching hospitals have progressed beyond that by now. Maybe AI could be useful there.

Teaching hospitals also used to get tons of Greyhounds off the track, 1) They were free, and the owners got a tax write-off, (2) They were also very sweet and compliant dogs.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
