Trump calls on Britain to dismantle North Sea wind turbines

DPA
Fri, January 3, 2025 at 8:17 AM EST·1 min read

US President-elect Donald Trump called on Friday for the United Kingdom to dismantle its wind turbines in the North Sea in response to a decision by a US oil company to leave the oil-rich region.

"The UK is making a very big mistake. Open up the North Sea. Get rid of the windmills!" Trump posted on his online platform, Truth Social.

The post included a link to Scotland's Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, which in early November detailed a decision taken by the Apache oil firm to exit the North Sea. Apache said the UK's windfall tax on oil operations had made operation "uneconomic."

"According to recent information, Scotland's wind turbines in the North Sea, primarily from the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm, can generate around 1.1 gigawatts (GW) of electricity, enough to power approximately 1.6 million homes.
Key points about Scotland's North Sea wind power:
Largest wind farm: The Seagreen project is currently Scotland's largest offshore wind farm.
Capacity: With 114 turbines, Seagreen has a generating capacity of roughly 1.1 GW.
Location: Situated around 27 kilometers off the coast of Angus.
Impact: This power generation can potentially supply electricity to roughly two-thirds of all Scottish homes. :

nearby his resort, on and offshore. 24/7 lights, noise, disruption by boats hauling drilling mud, supplies, etc, helicopters delivering personnel. Turn the resort into a drilling spectacle especially if roughnecks drop in.

9. Trump appointees in many nations are going to be shunned.

When my wife and I were young we lived briefly on an Indian Reservation for my wife's work. We didn't have many problems fitting in but the walls of our apartment bore witness to those who had been shunned by the community. "White Saviors" were especially unwelcome and the walls, doors, and cabinets bore the scars of their fists and heavy objects thrown.

It is of course possible that Trump Saviors are so damned clueless they won't notice, or such sociopaths that they wont care.

OK, and I’m already tired of this governing and policy making by social media post. The only way to stop it, is if the news media stops covering it. Make him write an executive order or something. Or delegate the policy announcement to his cabinet at least. This is just trolling. Is that what he thinks his job is? I think I read that in the UK trolling is illegal? These posts are not binding and he can erase them. He doesn’t turn them over to the archive. they should be ignored by every news publication. I know that is wishful thinking unfortunately
