This House bill is worse than the one from the Senate. There is things in it that is needed, but the SNAP part is a danger for many of those that are working poor and homeless.
But Obama, once again, got our back!
White House threatens veto of House Farm Bill over cuts to Food Stamps Program
ASHINGTON The White House is threatening to veto the House version of a massive, five-year farm bill, saying food stamp cuts included in the legislation could leave some Americans hungry.
The House is preparing to consider the bill this week. The legislation would cut $2 billion annually, or around 3 percent, from food stamps and make it harder for some people to qualify for the program. Food stamps, now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, cost almost $80 billion last year, twice the amount it cost five years ago.

(8,492 posts)I'd say we need to send these assholes pictures of starving American children to see the fruits of their 'labors', but it wouldn't make a damned bit of difference.
Pres. Obama shouldn't just veto the damned thing, he should make them eat it.
K&R for GOOD NEWS!!!

(17,656 posts)When they find out that we are spending as much on the NSA program, that some of them seem to be so worried about, as we are spending on the SNAP program.
It's incredible that the Rethuglicans in Congress want to cut any money from the SNAP program when you realize that most of the recipients of that program are from the so-called "red states", where most of the GOP's Tea Party coalition Congress critters come from.
