I am starting a business and want to have a webpage
And I have no idea what to do. LOL.
I want to initially start out with a free web host. I have secured the domain name.
Does anyone have any good ideas of ones that will be good to start out with while I learn?

(6,452 posts)My suggestion would be to use something like Google Sites: http://sites.google.com/. They have free packages that give you a huge amount of leeway to do what you want as long as your product isn't illegal. I haven't used their e-commerce solutions, but you didn't mention that in your post.
I used to run a web consulting business, so if you want some pointers, let me know.

(20 posts)However the coming of Internet and its widespread usage and adaption has started to change the way small companies advertise themselves. Unlike the traditional form of advertising Internet as a medium is consumer specific. It functions in a manner to enable consumers to find exactly the services or goods which fits their needs.
Almost everyone today uses the web to shop or hire a service or at least to do a little market research and to identify the company they wish to deal with. With the evolution in communication technology and the dynamic nature of the business world, Internet is quickly becoming a natural extension of our lives. If today you dont have an active online presence, you are sure to miss out on a substantial share of your potential customers.

(48 posts)Most of the major web hosting companies like GoDaddy or iPage have applications you can use to receive credit card payments, pay-pal, and protect your customers information. In short they will help you run your online business for a fee. I would guess that whoever you bought your domain from probably offers that service.

(20 posts)I'm in the same boat as Horse with no Name.
My friend and I recently started our own business and have set up accounts on social media sites to get ourselves out there a bit more. We are looking to create a page that looks professional but that we can manage ourselves (neither of us are particularly great with this kind of stuff though). Other people I've talked to have also mentioned Wordpress but I want something that can easily expand with the company. Any other ideas?
