The movies I produce from it, the quality is worse source quality. Hell, it looks better in the preview than the video that goes out. Maybe I need to update it (it's the '09 edition).

I generally use the largest size (the one suggested for viewing on TV).
Very short one, shot with a phone:

If you are, you might have to adjust your settings in those programs. I use Handbrake, and have custom setup s for animation, TV and movies (animation really needs it).

But Handbrake does have an animation default you can check out and tweak.
