only to an external hard drive and to two other devices besides my laptop. Some may laugh but I think this is the most secure way to do it, whether you just love giving Norton $300 or more/year or someone else--something that I am really resenting nowadays.

So, in answer to your question, I have used Ascendo Datavault for 20 years (at least). It will generate passwords for you no matter how intricate or how many characters. Otherwise, it is probably "no frills," but it works and is very reliable.

I have passwords going back decades to which I still refer, from time to time. It also generates passwords which will satisfy the most arcane letter/number requirements.

I use PasswordSafe. It's a freebie https://www.pwsafe.org/

I, too, do not back up to the cloud. either, only to an external hard drive.
