(55,915 posts)why Trump was not widely regarded as a carpetbagger in the South. All that NY money telling everyone what to do and yet look at the results.

(4,793 posts)I bet all those nasty, bigoted, door-blocking, child-murdering, dynamite-throwing white Democrats never thought they'd ever become republicans either.
Not to mention the Northerners who somehow ended up becoming defenders of the confederate flag.
Uncle Joe
(65,577 posts)his public motivations to restore all things Confederate; base names, statues and history as a means of inoculating himself in public perception particularly in the South and rural areas of the nation from being considered a carpet bagger.
The same dynamics played out with his political actions in regards to opening of the Epstein files and ending forever wars.
He could never have accomplished this without all that global oligarch money; influence, and power which goes with it.

(1,989 posts)White MAGA Southerners hate the same people Donald Trump hates. PLUS...he will keep those uppity 'wimmen' where they belong-
the classic "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen."

Cmon Georgia - you were smart enough to elect this man once. Please, please, please DO IT AGAIN!

(4,793 posts)Rights to his music is split three ways between his estate, his old record label, and a third company (and I'm happy to say this is NOT something I knew before diving into this thread
)

(22,918 posts)I didn't realize Daniels was deceased, but it's common for the rights to songs to be sold to other parties. That's how Michael Jackson was able to buy the rights to lot of the Beatles songs. (Paul McCartney put in a bid when they went up for sale, but Jackson outbid him. After Jackson died, the rights to those songs became part of his estate, and they ended up getting sold to Sony.)
BaronChocula
(4,793 posts)for sure while thinking about this. I recently heard (probably online so grain of salt) that it was McCartney who had originally informed Jackson that owning the rights to music was the way to go. Clearly, he didn't know it would turn around to bite him. Bang bang, Michael's Silver hammer came down on his head.

(3,108 posts)Let the Trump people try to defend that. I bet a lot of Southerners are re-thinking their support of Trump and this might resonate with them.
There are a lot of visceral suggestions in this video. Is it unfair? Yeah. But F fairness. We are at war.

georgians might mistake ossoff for the devil in the fable.
or go for that meme of trump fiddling while rome burns.
ShazzieB
(22,918 posts)The line "The devil went down to Georgia" sends a very clear message (Trump is the one who "went down to Georgia," not Ossoff), and it's a great metaphor for what Trump tried to do in 2020.
I think it's brilliant.
