Living in a police state

Some of the police forces are taking the piss. Derbyshire is male testosterone on steroids. As about 96% of people are acting in the spirit of the new rules the police need to wind their necks in. Taking the guidance and interpreting it in the most draconian way possible. Who are they to decide where someone can walk their dog, or get their exercise? They need to wind their authoritarian necks in. If they don't the 96% will not have it. Maybe they should concentrate on the 4% who are actually breaking the rules, rather than the granny who wants to walk her dog in a local beuty spot, driving there in her car when she is self distancing. IMO if the police continue with this we will see a breakdown in social order. We do not live in a police state. The police need to realise this or 2011 comes to mind.

If she wrecks her car, or her car breaks down on the way to the beauty site? Or falls on the hiking path and twists her ankle? Just because the local beauty site isn't a national park, doesn't mean people won't flock to it in droves once they see others going....and then we'll have last weekend all over again. Government guidelines say "stay local" not "get in your car and drive across the countryside". I have no problem with police cracking down. Then again, I'm waiting on cancer surgery I probably can't get until this is over and done with and I really, really, really want people to stop fucking around and STAY THE HELL HOME. Granny can walk her dog in the back garden ffs.

5. Regarding Derbyshire Police

Derbyshire includes the Peak District, which is a popular destination for people in a number of nearby large towns and cities.

A big part of why we have a lockdown is because of people heading off to places like the Monsal Trail en masse. Something that's even more popular when everything else has shut down. If everyone has the same ideas about heading off to the Peak District then it very quickly defeats the whole object of social distancing.

So I do understand why Derbyshire Police are concerned about people driving out to the Peak District for their daily exercise.
