"If you saw Nigel Farage, Ian Duncan Smith, Michael Gove and Jacob Rees Mogg drowning and you could only rescue one of them....what kind of sandwich would you make instead?"

I don't think it can be described as just one more Russian intelligence operation. Brexit was the culmination of 40 years of populist pandering for xenophobic votes, plus billionaire tax exile media owners voting for greater tax avoidance rights, plus British governments and businesses finding it terribly convenient to let people blame the EU for problems of much more local origin.
