New appointments by DNC Chair Ken Martin give Washington State more influence at the Democratic National Committee

The Pacific Northwest is gaining more clout within the main governing body of the world’s oldest continuously operating political party at a critical time for U.S. democracy.

New appointments just announced by Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin will give the Evergreen State more representation and influence on the DNC as a whole and on its key committees, especially the powerful Rules & Bylaws Committee, known as the RBC for short. The appointments will also provide the state’s Democratic leadership with a bigger platform to share the best practices the party has used here to grow its legislative majorities and congressional delegation, plus achieve consistent supremacy in statewide races. The Washington State Democratic Party’s winning ways are of great interest to Democrats across the country, who would like to replicate its success.

The Washington-specific appointments announced by Martin are as follows:

Washington State Party Chair Shasti Conrad, also an DNC Associate Chair, has been appointed to the Rules & Bylaws Committee.

Longtime DNC Member David McDonald has been reappointed to the Rules & Bylaws Committee, which means Washington will have two seats on the RBC.
