Williamson, Bastrop counties ditch touchscreen tablets for hand-marked paper ballots in November election

GEORGETOWN, Texas — In this November’s election, voters are changing how they cast their ballots in a handful of Texas counties.

Election officials in Collin, Williamson, and Bastrop counties are changing their voting procedure and equipment. In the past, voters electronically picked their choices and placed their ballots in a scanner. Now, they will be given a pen and ballots with the political races and will "hand-mark each race."

It is a change that some voters welcome.

“I feel good about it,” Phyllis said. “After all the things that have gone crazy with some of these voting machines, I’m in favor of it.”
