WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) A member of the Washington County Board of Education says a clip of him telling a student, God, youre hot, you know that? Where do you go to school at? that has been circulating online is missing context and does not illustrate what he intended by the comment.
Keith Ervin, who represents District 1 on the school board, has come under fire on social media after a moment from Thursdays meeting was shared. ... In the 12-second clip, Ervin can be seen making a comment to a student seated next to him. ... God, youre hot, you know that? Where do you go to school at? ... I go to Crockett, the student responds. ... Alright, Ervin said.
News Channel 11 spoke with Ervin on Friday after the clip started to garner attention online. He said that while the board was discussing the possible restructuring of schools, the student made comments that impressed him.
I had a student board member beside me, and we was talking, and she got up and was asking questions, and [she] just thoroughly impressed me and the other board members, Ervin said on Friday. I was. She was a top-notch student board member, and she was asking real smart questions. And I reached over, and I touched her on the shoulder, and I said, Youre hot. Youre youre good. Youre one of the best Ive seen. ... I didnt mean nothing by it. She was just, she was on fire. She asked good questions, and I was bragging about her.

Well, he didn't get that position by being timid.
Or, by thinking, apparently.
