Examining Democrats' 2025 Victories in Pennsylvania and What They Could Mean for the Future (VERY long and detailed)
Dear Readers: In our final issue of 2025, we are taking one more look back at the November elections. Nick Field, a past Crystal Ball contributor who previously took a close look at Pennsylvania voter registration trends following Donald Trump’s victory there last year, analyzes what happened in the Keystone State in 2025. Democrats performed well in both a trio of state Supreme Court retention elections there as well as in some county-level offices, specifically in the key counties of Erie in northwest Pennsylvania and Northampton in the Lehigh Valley. While Pennsylvania does not have a Senate election in 2026, it features several key U.S. House races as well as the reelection bid by Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA), a possible presidential contender. So its trends are crucial to monitor both next year and leading up to 2028.
