Pennsylvania
Related: About this forumI am so proud of my town today.....
We are located in a very, very RED part of PA. It's Lebanon, just north of Lancaster between Hershey and Reading.
My daughter just called and said there is protest on the main street of about 30 to 40 people for our side. I know it's not huge, but for Lebanon that is huge.
I post this with tears in my eyes.
I know we will get thru this because we are on the rite side of history.

(3,822 posts)It's been awhile since I've been through that part of PA but I remember the scenery and small-town feel of that city (back in the 90s). Strong Republican bent in that county but I never thought the people themselves were mean or vindictive.
You hold out hope that people's better angels will prevail. When shown the true nature of today's Republicans/Trump maybe they begin to question why they should support these people. As I've told my wife, the current administration is basically cheating the system. They're trying to impose on people's thoughts and attitudes, wrecking the current financial and economic systems and harassing people and institutions who don't kowtow to their agenda. In the long run it's not sustainable. People are going to either leave or resist and we can't function as a community or a nation if we don't exercise some tolerance and empathy for those who are different as well as those who are marginalized or can't truly fend for themselves.
