O'Connor (D) outraises Gainey (D) for third month in a row
For the third straight month, Allegheny County Controller Corey O’Connor has outraised Mayor Ed Gainey in his bid for mayor — this time with a new partner on board.
Mr. O’Connor brought in about $257,000 during the month of March, where Mr. Gainey brought in just under $143,000.
Since January, Mr. O’Connor has raised over $1 million — most of which has come from donations of $250 or more. At least 33 donors — lawyers, doctors, business leaders — have contributed the maximum amount of $3,500, and dozens more have given close to that amount.
Those large donations, which include $16,500 from executives associated with Walnut Capital, have earned Mr. O’Connor criticism from Mr. Gainey and his supporters.
