North Canton leaders rejoice after voters approve passage of Issue 4 income tax hike

NORTH CANTON − City voters have approved Issue 4 to permanently increase the North Canton income tax rate from 1.5% to 2% effective Jan. 1.

The unofficial vote count stands at 1,854 in favor of the tax increase to 1,517 opposed.

After voters rejected tax increases to help pay for the fire station in November and March last year, city officials were thrilled at Tuesday's results.

"I’m delighted. I just want to thank the voters of North Canton who made their voices heard," said Mayor Stephan Wilder.
