Indivisible Signs of Solidarity Campaign Update

I received the following email today.

Hi NC Group Leaders,

Thank you for your incredible work on the Signs of Solidarity campaign! We are moving into the next phase of our noncooperation actions.

Campaign Highlights and Wins
• According to the reportback forms, over 11,400 businesses were visited, and over 6,800 businesses agreed to put up a sign. This is a huge success.
• The campaign saw the most uptake in cities and communities facing the most pressing threats from ICE. We are now shifting our capacity and tailoring our tactics to best support local leadership in those areas to more directly address escalated and violent ICE activity, National Guard deployments, and other incursions of federal forces.

Connecting Your Members to Siembra NC
We strongly encourage groups and individuals who are not already involved to partner with our ally, Siembra NC, and their ongoing 4th Amendment Workplace campaign. Many of your members may already be familiar with this work.
• About 4th Amendment Workplaces: This is a canvassing program that ensures that families and workers across North Carolina are safe and businesses aren’t having their rights infringed by ICE.

Continued Local Action: Focused Toolkit
We encourage everyone to get involved with Siembra NC, but we will also continue to make a pared-down version of our Signs of Solidarity toolkit available.
Updated Toolkit Link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/17ozPLNODLcBPb1SuI4ydP20OiO6ix3edfKP500iI_sk/edit?tab=t.0
• This version of the toolkit focuses specifically on asking businesses to post the public-facing signs that express opposition to ICE and support for immigrant families.

Why the Continued Focus on Signs?

We are focused on this specific ask for two critical reasons:
• Visibility and Emboldening the Community: The goal is to target businesses who can, and should, be taking a stand against ICE and to ensure signs are visible in as many storefronts as possible. When everyone in the community sees these signs everywhere, it can help embolden them to also stand up against ICE. Signs of defiance let others know they too can courageously oppose authoritarianism.
• Identifying Allies: This action helps identify allied businesses with whom you can develop deeper organizing relationships. If the regime targets your city, you should follow up with these businesses. Owners and managers should be plugged into local rapid response networks, and staff should know there are allies and neighbors ready to activate and take action together. Continue to engage with these businesses to deepen their commitment to our side.
Thank you again for your vital work. Let’s keep building our noncooperation movement!

In solidarity,
